The Scoop: 42 thank you's
Today Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Samuel Alito to be the 110th justice of the United States Supreme Court.

First and foremost, we must thank those senators who took a principled stand to protect the rights and freedoms of all Americans, rather than the interests of a powerful few.

The vote today yesterday, at 58-42, shows just how divisive Samuel Alito's nomination was. Democrats, along with a Republican and an Independent, came together on the Senate floor to reject Judge Alito's nomination and the agenda of a radical conservative movement that was clearly expressed in his writings and statements and embodied in his judicial record.

We will continue to fight to preserve justice for all Americans and to expand, rather than restrict, our freedoms. We hope that you will continue to fight the good fight along with us.
